Kayla's Patio Brunches

The sun is rising earlier and the weather is warming up more and more everyday, so it’s time to start my back patio brunches! Sunshine and blue skies combined with beautiful blooming flowers around town always put me in the mood for entertaining. When it comes to my personal gatherings, I typically believe less is more, so I kept my table on the simpler side this time around, allowing the natural outside elements to take precedent.

When I prepare to host any gathering, I enjoy taking inventory of what I already have first and then combining my vision with my current entertaining dishware and accents. I love ‘updated’ tablescapes, so when I am buying new items for my collections, I start with The Salvation Army in Point Loma, Newport Avenue Antique Center in Ocean Beach and then Homegoods. I continue to invest in new dishware, however my everyday white dish collection is my favorite because they are so easy to mix with most patterns, tablescapes and stand strong on their own. Add in a colored napkin and you’ve got a great POP with a place setting. For the flatware, well, I find any excuse I can to use my vintage gold flatware that was passed down to me from a relative. Throw in a pretty glass for drinking orange juice or champagne, and you’re ready for your guests! To leave plenty of room for food on the table and not to block any conversation, I went with a simple vase of Calla Lilies to add a touch of fresh blooms.

Be sure to show us your brunch and entertaining tablescapes on social!
